The Aug. 28 Boston fight card for UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2, headlined with a lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn, is now officially complete. The UFC confirmed the remaining bouts on Wednesday and the final line-up is as follows:

  • Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn
  • Randy Couture vs. James Toney
  • Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard
  • Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda
  • Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis
  • Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger
  • Gerald Harris vs. Joe Vedepo
  • Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz
  • Dan Miller vs. John Salter
  • Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto
  • Mike Pierce vs. Amilcar Alves

THOUGHTS FOR DISCUSSION: Is Frankie Edgar really the best 155-pounder in the world or was his win over B.J. Penn just a fluke? Some people believe that Penn won the fight and the judges got it wrong.

Has Randy Couture bit off more than he can chew against James Toney or will he steamroll over the legendary boxer? What would it mean if Couture lost?

Which Boston native are you most interested in seeing on this card and why?

  1. I think BJ will turn it up against Frankie this time and leave no doubt. Randy is too smart to try and bang with Toney and will take hime down and pound him out. I am more interested in the Diaz/Davis fight than the Florian /Maynard fight.

  2. I think you’re right about B.J. Although he’s been fighting a long time, he should still have a few good years left and needs to turn it up just a bit.

For some reason I’m just really worried about Randy in this fight. I keep trying to picture how he’s going to get Toney to the ground without getting hit… If he can get him to the ground it’s all over, but I don’t think it will be as easy as many think.

Diaz should be able to submit Davis I think. Thanks for stopping by Tedster!
