For months now a variety of media sources have reported on UFC Fight Night 22. Today, Spike TV officials confirmed the event. It will take place on Sept. 15 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

Headlining the card is a middleweight match up between top contenders. Former middleweight title challenger Demian Maia will meet Alan Belcher.

Maia earned a shot at Anderson Silva by going 6-1 in the UFC. His only defeat came when Nate Marquardt knocked him out at UFC 102. He holds victories over Chael Sonnen, Nate Quarry and Dan Miller. Considered one of the best grapplers on the planet, Maia has won titles at ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships, CBJJ World Championships and the CBJJ Brazilian National Championships.

Belcher has been fighting in the UFC since 2006. He holds a 7-4 record under the Zuffa banner. Belcher is currently riding a modest two-fight winning streak. At UFC 107, he defeated Wilson Gouveia and returned to defeat former title challenger Patrick Cote at UFC 113.

Also on the card, Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig will face off for a second time. At UFC 115, Wiman defeated Danzig by technical submission when referee Yves Lavigne prematurely stopped the fight.
