Tachi Palace Fights 5: Stars and Strikes” takes place tonight, Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.

The event is headlined by former WEC lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough (17-6) vs. Stockton fighter Isaac de Jesus (9-1).

The event will mark McCullough’s first fight outside the WEC since losing a split decision to Karen Darebedyan (9-3) at WEC 44 in Nov. 2009.

At one time considered a real force at lightweight, McCullough’s career has been up and down since losing his title to Jamie Varner (16-3-1, 2 NC) at WEC 32 in Feb. 2008.

After turning pro in 2007, de Jesus won his first eight fights before losing to the very formidable and then undefeated Brandon Visher (13-1) via third round TKO in Sept. 2009. However, de Jesus bounced right back with a TKO win over Nam Phan (15-7) at Tachi Palace Fights 3 in February of this year.

Also competing on tonight’s card, and surrounded by controversy as usual, is The Ultimate Fighter 6 and UFC 84 veteran, War Machine (11-3). If all goes as planned, he will be fighting WEC and UFC veteran John Alessio (28-13).

Other recognizable names on this card include Gabe Ruediger, “Diamond” Dave Kaplan, Poppies Martinez, the fighter known as Hulk Hogan‘s nephew, “King” David Bollea, and Cole Escovedo, to name a few.

ProMMAnow.com will provide live results and play-by-play commentary during tonight’s card beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET.

  1. Abas is way overrated and has to rely purely on his wrestling skills to win fights…Abas will get his ass kicked by david escovedo, and a slew of other fighters with a deep background in wrestling combined with upper level belt skills in jiu-jitsu, oh and lets not even wonder what would happen if a 125’er with good hands is able to stop his takedown attempts throughout the rounds, abas will go into panic mode and get tko’ed or knocked out…

  2. Cooper decided not to take the contract. He was willing to fight but did not agree to the terms.
