After a recent stint in the UFC ended with a 0-2-1 mark, veteran Caol Uno seriously considered retirement. However, now news has come from Japanese language website Nikkan Sports, by way of NightmareofBattle.com, that he will return to action at Dream 16.

The UFC signed Uno for a second run with the promotion after he made it to the semi-finals of Dream’s lightweight tournament. In his first fight with the promotion in over six years, he dropped a decision to Spencer Fisher. He followed that up with a draw against Fabricio Camoes and a TKO loss at the hands of Gleison Tibau.

The veteran began his career fighting for the Shooto organization. He won the Shooto world 154-pound title by defeating Rumina Sato in 1999. He then moved to the UFC, where he fought for the UFC lightweight title twice. In 2001, he dropped a majority decision to Jens Pulver and then drew with B.J. Penn in 2003. He then returned to Japan and fought for K-1 MMA branch putting up a 9-4 record. Uno holds victories over Mitsuhiro Ishida, Din Thomas, Yves Edwards and Dennis Hallman.

Dream 16 will feature the finals of Dream’s light heavyweight tournament. The first round will begin early Saturday morning and will air live in North America on HDNet.
