In this interview with James Toney, the boxing champion talks about his reasons for wanting to fight in MMA. Big props have to go to reporter Ariel Helwanni who confronts Toney, first about the fact that Dana White never said MMA fighters were “better than boxers” and secondly about Toney’s apparent lack of MMA knowledge and what he is getting into. Helwanni specifically asks Toney about the very rarely seen “side check kick“.

Toney says he has been working with “King Mo“, Mousasi, and Antonio McKee among others. He will need all the help he can get when he steps in the cage on Aug. 28 to face MMA legend and UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture in Boston.

“To those out there they just don’t like me, too damn bad, cause ya’ll really ain’t gonna like me after Aug. 28 when I destroy yall’s so-called legend. A guy with 12 losses is a legend, ain’t that a bitch,” Toney exclaimed.

Toney eventually walks away from the interview after a heated “boxing vs. MMA” discussion starts to brew. Helwanni has to follow Toney, sits down with him, and that’s Toney shows the camera his Randy Couture action figure wearing a dress and carrying a purse.

At the UFC 116 post-fight press conference UFC President Dana White said they plan to teach Toney a lesson. What do you think, is Randy Couture going to teach James Toney a lesson or will the boxing legend knock out the MMA legend?
