EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – Former World Extreme Cagefighting Bantamweight Champion Miguel Angel Torres (36-3-0 MMA, 5-2 WEC) received the Key to the City of East Chicago, Ind. this past Friday.

Torres, who was born and raised in East Chicago, was also honored by the city with “Miguel Angel Torres Day” for his dedication to bettering the community.

“It was truly an honor to be recognized by my hometown. East Chicago is a community filled with hard working people and I am proud to represent this city.”

In addition to fighting professionally, Torres runs his own MMA gym called Torres Martial Arts Academy in Highland, Ind.

From 2003-2009 Torres won 17 straight fights. He lost his title to Brian Bowles via knockout at WEC 42 last year, then lost his next fight via submission against Joseph Benavidez at WEC 47 in March.

Torres’ next bout has not yet been announced, however, he has been working on his chi.
