The popular mixed martial arts news show MMA Live, which started out by airing every Thursday on ESPN.com, was picked up by television station ESPN2 at the beginning of May on a trial basis.

If the show, which was allotted the unfortunate time slot of Thursdays at midnight (1:00 a.m. ET), was going to get picked up indefinitely for television, they were going to have to show good numbers during the month of May.

Evidently ESPN2 liked what they saw and it was announced today the show will continue airing on ESPN2 at least through August 2010.

MMA Live will continue to air on ESPN2 at 1:00 a.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT on Thursdays. Host Jon Anik, analyst Kenny Florian, MMA insider Franklin McNeil, and correspondent Molly Qerin will continue with their MMA Live duties, with Rashad Evans and Randy Couture participating when needed.

A UFC 114 post-show of MMA Live will air tonight on ESPN2 immediately following the pay-per-view event.

Many MMA and UFC fans love to hear from the fighters and hear a recap and analysis of events after they happen. If MMA Live continues to hold these live post-UFC shows in addition to their weekly news shows, the program will undoubtedly continue to rise in popularity.

This is just one more step in the right direction for the evolution of professional mixed martial arts.
