SAITAMA, Japan – DREAM 14 took place on Saturday, May 29, at the Saitama Super Arena. The event was broadcast live here in the U.S. on HDNet. DREAM really out did themselves with their presentation at the event. Billed as “The White Cage Returns,” they started the show off with a video/music presentation that was absolutely phenomenal and unlike anything we see here in America.

In between video highlights of DREAM knockouts and fighting were video clips of what appeared to be Japanese WWII aircraft and Kamikaze planes. This was interspersed with video clips of geometric mandalas and symbols. All this was combined with ethereal type music that really created an emotional and electric atmosphere. Add to that the presentation of the White Cage with fire and pyrotechnics and it was all very unforgettable.

And then there were the fights…

Each fight had great lead-in videos. They showed clips of Shinya Aoki getting beat at Strikeforce by Gilbert Melendez. They presented Nick Diaz’s fight as “Strikeforce vs. DREAM.” You will see this in the video of “Diaz vs. Sakurai” below. It is quite moving.
