T.U.F Teammate Jamie Yager and WEC Stars Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia Also Appearing

Washington, D.C. — Kris “Savage” McCray, current star on The Ultimate Fighter (T.U.F.) television show and former Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC) fighter, will make a special guest appearance in front of his hometown fans at UWC® 8 JUDGEMENT DAY this Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Patriot Center. Also making special guest appearances will be McCray’s teammate from the hit Spike show, Jamie Yager, as well as World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) stars Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia.

While many MMA fans nationwide probably just got their first glimpse of McCray by watching him on this season of the popular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) reality show, supporters in the Washington, D.C. area are very familiar with the Woodbridge, VA-native. A former Army reservist who still trains locally out of Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts/Gold Medal Grappling made a name for himself by destroying his opponents at the last four UWC shows. No match went beyond the first round as McCray won three times by submission and once by TKO.

“Despite being a relative newcomer to the sport, Kris has the talent, drive, commitment and ‘it’ factor to be a star in this business,” said UWC CEO S. Marcello Foran who also serves as McCray’s manager. “In just a short period of time, he has quickly grabbed the attention of the MMA world, drawing a tremendous amount of support and recognition from fans.”

Born in Germany to a military family, McCray studied karate and kickboxing as a youngster and was a talented wrestler at Woodbridge High School in suburban D.C. He went undefeated in ten amateur MMA bouts before making his pro debut on October 11, 2008 at UWC Confrontation where he submitted Joey Kerwin by rear naked choke at 1:35 of round one.  The hometown fighter became a crowd favorite at the Patriot Center backing up his nickname with his tenacious fighting style leading to his quick victories.

Follow McCray’s journey every Wednesday night at 10pm on Spike TV.
