The next challenger to Anderson Silva’s title moved a little bit closer to a seat in the Oregon House of Representatives. On Tuesday, he took 99.13 percent of the vote in the Republican primary of Oregon’s 37th district.
The landslide victory was not a surprise considering he was running unopposed. On the other side, Democrat hopeful Will Rasmussen claimed 65.82 percent of the vote. He defeated Gerritt Rosenthal and Joelle Davis. Rasmussen claims that his biggest issues are “job losses, rising health insurance costs, and growing pressure on the environment threaten to change life in Oregon forever.”
The two will certainly square off in a few public debates leading up the general election on Nov. 2.
According to FoxNews.com, “Democrats currently hold 3-2 advantages in both state House and Senate… A swing big enough to put the GOP back in control of the House isn’t likely.”
Sonnen is set to challenge Silva on Aug.7 at UFC 117. In order to earn the shot, the Team Quest veteran defeated Dan Miller, Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt.
