WASHINGTON, D.C. – In addition to all the other MMA events going on this weekend, there’s a nice little show going on at the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C., Saturday night.

Headlining Washington Combat‘s “Battle of the Legends” is indeed two legends of professional mixed martial arts. Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo (17-9) will take on Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge (23-20-1) in a heavyweight showdown.

As long as both of these veterans have been competing, it is a wonder the two have never crossed paths before. Rizzo, now 36-years-old, is coming off a unanimous decision win at “Bitetti Combat 4” in Sept. 2009. He is 5-5 in his last ten bouts.

On the other hand 44-year-old Goodridge has lost his last five bouts, and is 4-6 in his last ten. His most recent fight was a first round knockout from Gegard Mousasi at K-1 Dynamite’s 2009 New Year’s Eve show in Saitama, Japan.

You have to give Rizzo the advantage in this fight, but anytime you get two legends in the cage together, the die hard MMA fans get a treat. Other recognizable names on this card include Gustavo Machado, Marco Galvao, and former University of Tennessee linebacker Ovince St. Preux, who is coming off a first round knockout win at “Strikeforce: Nashville” last month.
