New broadcast partner re-affirms Bellator’s commitment to Latino MMA fans

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 12, 2010) Bellator Fighting Championships announced today that it has expanded its groundbreaking TV distribution alliance to include mun2 (moon-dos), an NBC-owned cable TV network aimed at young Latinos.

Beginning on April 17th, mun2 will broadcast a series of action-packed, hour-long English-language highlight shows recapping all 24 of Bellator’s upcoming Season 2 and 3 events. The events will air on Saturday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Bellator will also be broadcast live in prime time every Thursday night on FOX Sports Net (which reaches 92 million homes) and during weekly Saturday-night highlight shows on NBC (112 million homes) and Telemundo (62 million homes).

mun2 is broadcast to more than 34 million homes nationwide, further expanding Bellator’s landmark TV distribution alliance — one of the largest in fighting sports history.

“From Day 1, Bellator has recognized and respected Hispanic consumers as some of the greatest MMA fans in the world — particularly young Latinos,” said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Given this, expanding our alliance with NBC and Telemundo to air weekly highlight shows on mun2 is a perfect fit for Bellator. We’re excited to become a part of the mun2 programming lineup and family and are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the countless Latino Bellator fans from coast to coast.”

Bellator first burst onto the MMA scene in April 2009 with weekly broadcasts on ESPN Deportes, making it the first MMA promotion ever to be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. As a result, Bellator quickly developed a tremendous following among Latino MMA fans — a following that stands to grow dramatically through Bellator’s new alliance with Mun2.

“Adding MMA to our line-up is part of the network’s evolution in providing cutting-edge programming for young, bicultural Latinos in the U.S.,” said Flavio Morales, SVP, Programming & Production for mun2. “From soccer to WWE, our sports entertainment offerings have consistently resonated with our viewers and now, we’re excited to partner with Bellator in bringing weekly action-packed highlight shows of Bellator Fighting Championships to our audience.”
