Pro MMA Now (www.prommanow.com) requested the “UFC 109: Relentless” medical suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Sunday, Feb. 7, and received the report today. Fighter safety is of utmost importance in MMA, and medical suspensions are issued to help protect the athletes.

UFC 109 official medical suspensions report:

Rolles Gracie, who suffered a second round TKO loss to Joey Beltran, is suspended until 03/09/10, with no contact until 02/28/10.

Melvin Guillard, who defeated Ronys Torres by unanimous decision, needs a follow up ophthalmologic exam in one or two months; must be done before 03/26/10 and he must take a copy of his Jan. 2010 examination.

Mac Danzig, who defeated Justin Buchholz by unanimous decision, must have orthopedic clearance on possible left knee sprain or no contest until 08/06/10.

Justin Buchholz is suspended until 03/09/10, with no contact until 02/28/10. (The report actually says “tough fight”)

Frank Trigg, who suffered a first round knockout loss to Matt Serra, is suspended until 03/24/10, with no contact until 03/09/10.

Demian Maia, who defeated Dan Miller by unanimous decision, must have left vertical upper eyelid laceration cleared by an ophthalmologist or an ocular-plastics doctor, or no contest until 08/06/10.

Dan Miller is suspended until 03/09/10, with no contact until 02/28/10.

Mike Swick, who suffered a submission loss to Paulo Thiago, must have left elbow x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor, or no contest until 08/06/10. Even with clearance for the elbow, Swick’s minimum suspension is no contest until 03/24/10, no contact until 03/09/10.

Nate Marquardt, who lost via unanimous decision to Chael Sonnen, is suspended until 03/09/10, with no contact until 02/28/10.

Chael Sonnen is suspended until 03/24/10, with no contact until 03/09/10, due to lacerations on forehead and nasal bridge.

Mark Coleman, who suffered a second round submission loss to Randy Couture, is suspended until 03/09/10, with no contact until 02/28/10.
