KNOXVILLE – PROMMA.INFO was on the scene for Absolute Cage Fights live from the Knoxville Expo Center in Knoxville, Tn. on Friday night, Sept. 18.

The evening’s card featured fourteen amateur fights, seven of which were title bouts, and also featured three professional fights, marking the first ever PRO/AM card for the Knoxville based Absolute Cage Fights.

The house was packed and the action was non stop as 15 of the 17 bouts ended by either knockout or submission. Featherweight contender Chad Perriene, had the highlight knockout of the night with a devastating head kick that dropped and finished the very game Chris Wolfe in Round 2 of their Featherweight top contender bout.

It was announced later in the evening that Perriene’s win would earn him a shot at the Absolute Cage Fights Featherweight Title, and that he would be facing off against Josh Hanson, who was also impressive in his fight with a TKO win over James Adcock on the same card.

The Pro’s capped off a night of exciting fights with finishes in each of the three professional bouts, including a very impressive showing by XFC veteran Shane Matchette winning by triangle choke over J.R. Hines in the opening Round.

Amateur Card:
Johnathan Nye vs. Spencer Hunter- Middleweight Bout

Round 1 – Hunter with a jab and nice right hand, then lands an uppercut and shoots for the take down. Nye looks for the guillotine, but Hunter is out, and postures for a big right hand that lands. After a
quick scramble, Hunter ends up in top position. Hunter advances to full mount and is landing some big shots as Nye works to escape. Nye is in trouble and is taking undefended shots and the referee steps in and stops the fight.

Justin Strange vs. Travis Chitwood- Welterweight Bout

Round 1 – Strange with a straight right, and goes for the clinch. Both fighters work for a take down, but strange gets the body lock take down. Strange on top and in half guard. Chitwood is defending nicely from the bottom and is controlling Strange’s posture. Chitwood sweeps Strange and is now in Strange’s full guard. Chitwood not doing much from the top, but is landing the occasional punch to the head. End of Round 1.

Round 2 – Chitwood with a leg kick to start. Strange is stalking with a jab and a big right hand. Chitwood misses with a left hook, changes levels and shoots for a double but is stuffed. Strange works
Chitwood to his back and Strange is now in full guard.

Another sweep for Chitwood, and now Strange is on his back. Chitwood working the body, but Strange is controlling Chitwood’s posture nicely. Chitwood postures and lands a big shot to the body of Strange. Chitwood passes to half guard, then to mount but leaves an arm extended, and Strange works for a kimura just before the bell. End of Round 2.

Round 3 – Straight kick by Strange to start. Chitwood counters with a big leg kick. Chitwood misses with a big left hand. Strange counters but misses with an uppercut. Both fighters exchange briefly.
Chitwood shoots for a double and gets it, but gets caught in a guillotine. Chitwood is out and now in half guard.

A little lay and pray by Chitwood now. 30 seconds to go and Chitwood postures up for a body shot looking to finish strong. End of Round 3.

James Adcock vs. Josh Hanson- Featherweight Bout

Round 1 – Adcock misses with two punches but moves forward and gets the trip take down. Adcock on top with Hanson working a high guard looking for a triangle. Adcock pulls out and looks to pass the guard of Hanson. Another triangle attempt by Hanson and Adcock is in trouble.

Once again Adcock pulls free and lands a couple of shots before once again getting caught in a triangle attempt. Adcock with some hammer fists to the body, but he is still stuck in the triangle. 30 seconds to go and Adcock is looking to survive Adcock gets free and lands some nice hammer fists and a flush elbow. Hanson sweeps and lands a big shot at the bell.

Round 2 – Big exchange to start but Adcock gets the best of it. Hanson works for the take down, and Adcock counters with repeated shots to the body. Hanson gets the take down and quickly passes guard. Adcock rolls and gives up his back, but Hanson is very high looking for the RNC.

Adcock shakes him off and ends up on top. Adcock leaves an arm out and is in trouble. Adcock jumps to side mount, but is quickly back in trouble as Hanson goes for the triangle again. He’s got it locked in tight this time but Adcock is not tapping. Hanson follows up with punches to the defenseless Adcock forcing the ref to step in and stop it.

Chris Wolfe vs. Chad Perriene- Lightweight Bout

Round 1 – Perriene misses with the leg kick. Wolfe with the overhand right. They clinch, and Perriene gets a huge slam but gets caught in a guillotine. He’s out and now in full mount. Perriene lands 8 big
right hands from the mount. Wolfe is controlling Perriene’s posture now. Body shots by Perriene with both hands. Big right hand by Perriene with 10 seconds to go. End of Round 1.

Round 2 – Leg kick by Perriene to start. Wolfe goes for a spinning back fist that misses. Wolfe follows with the trip take down and is now in Perriene’s guard. Wolfe in half guard now and looking to pass.
Perriene looks to sweep and gets caught in a guillotine. Perriene escapes and is now in dominant position in full mount. Perriene working the body and head of Wolfe. Wolfe eats a huge right hand with his head pressed against the cage. 10 seconds to go and Perriene is looking to finish. End of Round 2.

Round 3 – Spinning back kick misses by Perriene. Wolfe lands a nice right hand. Wolfe follows up with a big two punch combo forcing Perriene against the cage. Wolfe turns and Perriene gets a body lock from the back and suplexes Wolfe to the mat. Perriene in Wolfe’s full guard now, but the action slows and the ref stands them up. Big right hand by Wolfe, but Perriene counters with a huge right hand of his own that stuns Wolfe.

Wolfe leans over and Perriene sees that he is hurt, Perriene comes forward with a Cro Cop-esque head kick that KO’s Wolfe!!!!!

Drew Kennedy vs. Scott McDermitt- Welterweight Bout

Round 1 – Nice leg kick by Kennedy. Body kick by McDermitt to counter. Kennedy comes back with another nice leg kick. McDermitt clinches and goes for the take down. They are clinched with Kennedy’s back to the cage. Body shot by McDermitt from the clinch. Kennedy goes for the double leg take down but is stuffed. He keeps working and gets the take down.

McDermitt working the butterfly guard from the bottom. Kennedy postures and lands some bombs before getting swept. Kennedy ends up on his back but locks in a tight guillotine forcing an immediate tap from McDermitt.

Ken Wilson vs. Kyle Kohler- Middleweight Bout

Round 1 – Wilson comes forward quick and lands a big right hand but Kohler walks through it and takes the fight to the ground. Kohler has Wilson’s back and is looking for the RNC early. Wilson is in trouble,
and Kohler is being patient with the sub attempt.

Kohler transitions to the full mount, but gets rolled, and is now on his back. Kohler is working some rubber guard with 10 seconds to go. Kohler controls Wilson for 10 seconds and takes virtually no damage. End of Round 1.

Round 2 – Head kick by Kohler to start Round 2 and he goes for the take down but is stuffed. Kohler stays active working for a single, and works Wilson to the ground. Wilson is on top but Kohler has an arm and Wilson is in trouble. Kohler gives up the arm and works his guard.

Hammer fists from Wilson then he stands and backs up. Wilson connects iwth a huge right hand that drops Kohler, but Kohler is unfazed. They are back on their feet, and Kohler goes for the head kick but gets dropped again. Wilson now on top looking to inflict some damage. Kohler using the cage to escape near the end of the round.

Round 3 – Both fighters exchange kicks to start. Kohler misses up top with another kick then goes for a spinning back fist but is taken down. Kohler working for the guillotine, but Wilson advances to side
mount.

Short hammer fists from Wilson in side mount and he is working to isolate an arm. Wilson advances to full mount and is dropping bombs. The ref steps in and stops the fight.

Chris Lussenden vs. Sean Young – Heavyweight Bout

Round 1 – Lussenden throws a punch right out of the gate buy Young changes levels and gets a big slam for a take down. Young quickly passes the guard of Lussenden and works to full mount. Young postures up and lands a couple of big shots from the top. Young is working for an Americana on Lussenden’s right arm.

Lussenden pulls free and Young lands a couple of big punches. The ref stands them up after a stall in the action, and Young looks to take the fight right back down to the ground. Young is working on an arm again, and has the Americana locked up this time around. Lussenden taps immediately.

Adam Milligan vs. Marlone Smith – SuperHeavyweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Smith comes forward and Milligan immediately goes for the take down but Smith defends nicely. They clinch against the cage and Smith takes the fight to the mat and transitions to Milligan’s back, and is now looking for the RNC.

Milligan turns in and almost reverses, but after the scramble, Smith is back in control. Smith flattens Milligan out and is looking for the rear naked choke again. Smith locks it in and finishes Milligan with the RNC.

Chris Wright vs. Brandon McMahon – Bantamweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Wright starts with a leg kick then throws a four punch combo. Wright to the plum clinch, and lands 3 knees. Wright changes levels and takes the fight to the ground. Wright in side mount now. Knees to the body from Wright.

McMahon works and retains full guard. Wright landing body shots from the top now. McMahon working a high guard now, with Wright landing left hands to the body of McMahon. McMahon works high and goes for the triangle and Wright is in trouble.

Wright works free and punishes McMahon with right hands. Wright landing hammerfists from the top now as McMahon rolls and looks for a leg. Wright maintains control against the cage, and drops some big left hands. 10 seconds to go with Wright in total control.

Round 2 – Wright with the leg kick and follows up with another. Wright is really working the kicks now, then clinches and takes McMahon down.

Wright in McMahon’s full guard now. McMahon looking for the triangle again, but gets loose and Wright passes to side mount. Wright with knees to the body now. McMahon retains guard again but Wright is
letting loose with his hands.

Wright passes again into side mount, but is reversed soon after. Wright on his back with McMahon in his full guard. McMahon works Wright to the cage and is still on top. Wright working the rubber guard
and is controlling the posture of McMahon as Round 2 ends.

Round 3 – Big right hand by Wright. Nasty leg kick by Wright. McMahon counters with a kick of his own, and Wright comes back with a spinning back fist.

McMahon lands a flush left hand, and Wright clinches and takes the fight to the cage. Wright pulls him off the cage and gets the double leg take down. Wright on top, but a scramble results in both fighters
gaining top position for a moment. Wright in sidemount, but a lack of action forces the ref to stand them back up.

Both fighters throwing big shots now and Wright is caught flush from a McMahon left hand. Back to the clinch now with McMahon scoring to the body of Wright.

Wright takes the fight back to the ground and both guys are scrambling with 10 seconds to go. End of Round 3.

Joe Wright vs. Jay Menigello- Lightweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Menigello with the leg kick. Menigello looks for the take down and Wright locks in a guillotine. Menigello gets out quickly, but Wright has an arm and is staying very active from the bottom. Menigello not doing much from the top. Wright defending well with nice wrist control from his back.

Wright gets a leg and looks for the heel hook but Menigello steps over his body to defend. Menigello looks for the crucifix but Wright is staying really active on his back. Wright looking to sweep.

Menigello passes to side mount temporarily as Wright looks to retain guard. 10 seconds to go with Menigello maintaining top position and control.

Round 2 – Leg kick by Menigello. Menigello shoots and gets the take down and is landing shots with Wright pinned against the cage. Wright kicks him off but Menigello is relentless and is back on top dropping shots. Hammerfists from Menigello now and the ref is watching closely.

Wright throws up his legs looking for an armbar but gives up side mount. Menigello landing knees to the body. North-South position now but Menigello transitions and is landing big shots from the top. Back
to the full guard but Menigello is punishing Wright from the top with hammerfists and big right hands.

Wright with the triangle attempt but gives up side mount again with Menigello dropping huge shots. The ref steps in and stops the fight.

Shane Hill vs. A.J. Paoletto- Interim Welterweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Paoletto immediately shoots and gets the take down. Paoletto is landing big shots from the top as Hill looks for the arm bar. Paoletto pulls out and looks to pass before getting caught in a guillotine.

Paoletto is out and in side mount now, but Hill is working to retain guard. Hill instead sweeps and takes Paoletto’s back and is looking for the RNC. Paoletto turns in but Hill is still in control. Hill too
high on the back and Paoletto escapes out the back door.

Hill on his back again with Paoletto in half guard. Paoletto passes to side mount but is reversed.

Hill on the back again working the body and head of Paoletto. Hill gets one hook in and flattens out Paoletto. Hill landing shots now and the ref steps in and stops the fight.

Marshal Manning vs. Paul Crane – Middleweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Big exchanges to start with both fighters landing kicks and punches. Manning gets the take down from the clinch. Crane works his way to his feet but the fight is back on the ground quickly.

Crane on top now working from the half guard of Manning. Crane landing punches from the top as Manning scrambles. Manning back to his feet and looking for the take down against the cage.

Manning walks Crane all the way across the cage for the big slam directly in front of his corner.

They are back on their feet quickly, but Manning takes it back to the ground and gets the back of Crane. Manning locks in the rear naked choke forcing the tap from Crane.

Marshal Manning defeats Paul Crane via submission (RNC) in Round 1 and retains the Middleweight title

Jeremy Holmes vs. Nick Breeden – Heavyweight Title Bout

Round 1 – Breeden shoots immediately for the single and works Holmes to the ground. Breeden postures up in the full guard of Holmes and slams him to the mat. Breeden stacks Holmes to pass and they end up in the North-South position.

Breeden gets the back for a second before Holmes rolls back to his guard. Breeden in the half guard of Holmes now. Breeden working for to isolate an arm, then transitions to full mount.

Holmes sweeps and is back on his feet. Breeden controlling the clinch against the cage and is looking to take the fight back to the mat. Holmes landing some shots with Breeden retaining the single leg.

Breeden takes Holmes up and over for the slam and is now in side mount. End of Round 1.

Round 2 – Breeden right back to the take down again and is quickly in side mount. Holmes works and retains full guard.

Round 1 – Inside leg kick by Cipriani, and Boyd counters with one of his own. Boyd puts together a nice five punch combo and Cipriani is down. Boyd lets him back to his feet.

Kick to the body from Boyd. Cipriani is missing with his jab early. Boyd counters with a big left hand.

Boyd with two snapping leg kicks. Cipriani counters with akick of his own. Boyd connects with a big right hand and followsup with some big shots. Boyd connects with two huge knees dropping Cipriani. Boyd looking to finish with big shots from the top. The ref steps in and calls it.

J.R. Hines vs. Shane Matchette – Welterweight Bout

Round 1 – Matchette with a big knee then the take down after a brief exchange. Matchette goes for the full mount but Hines reverses and is now on top. Matchette going for the triangle. Matchette locks it in and it’s tight. Hines taps within seconds.

John Buck vs. Jeremiah Huskins – Light Heavyweight Bout

Round 1 – Leg kick by Huskins to start. Buck counters with a leg kick of his own. Huskins with another leg kick. Buck uses his strikes to charge across the ring and take Huskins down. Huskins makes space and lands some huge shots.

During the scramble, Buck hits his head opening up a big cut. Buck stops for a second and Huskins capitalizes by landing shots to the prone Buck. The ref steps in and calls a stop to the bout.
