Yves Edwards' fight against James Warfield was "Fight of the Night" at Shine Fights 2.

More than 3,000 viewers tuned in to the online pay-per-view on the Shine Fights website (www.shinefights.com) Friday night to watch “Shine Fights 2: American Top Team vs. The World”. American Top Team defeated “The World” 4-0 as Dorian Price and Jorge Gurgel performed commentating duties and Gurgel did the post-fight interviews in the cage and translated for the Brazilians.

Some of the highlights of the night included Micah Miller’s (13-3) arm triangle submission over Anthony Morrison (8-7), Junior Assuncao’s (9-4) split decision win over Peter Grimes (4-5), and “Whisper” Goodman’s (9-7) TKO victory over James Brasco (4-2).

In the  main event Roan Carneiro (13-8) won a unanimous decision over Jorge Patino (21-12-1). Although Carneiro had the reach and height advantage, he chose to continuously take the fight to the ground where he controlled Patino and ultimately got the win.

However, without a doubt the fight that stole the show was American Top Team’s Yves Edwards (35-15-1) vs. James Warfield (15-4). After dropping his last two bouts, Edwards returned in top form Friday night and won via traingle choke. Warfield is an explosive striker who finished 14 of his 15 victories via (T)KO, and gave Edwards all he could handle.

Edwards got a takedown in round one but Warfield reversed him and ended up taking his back. Warfield controlled Edwards with a figure-four leg lock around his waist as he attempted a rear-naked choke. Edwards eventually escaped before the round ended.

Warfield started round two with an overhand right and was doing well in the stand up. Near the end of the round Warfield got a takedown and Edwards locked in a triangle as they hit the ground. Warfield picked him up and slammed him down to try to get out but it only made the choke tighter. Finally, Edwards pulled own on Warfield’s head causing him to  immediately tap, giving Edwards the victory at 4:48 of round two.
