Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Champion Dave Huckaba (11-3) will take on the mega-experienced ultra-veteran Dan “The Beast” Severn (89-16-7) on Aug. 22, 2009 at the Konocti Vista Casino in Lakeland, Calif.

The 51-year-old Severn is still going strong, having already fought three times this year, and winning twice. Severn’s most recent fight was just a couple of weeks ago at King of the Cage. Severn submitted novice Woody Young with a arm triangle in the second round.

If it is up to Severn this fight will go to the ground. Huckaba prefers to stand, with nine of his 11 wins coming by knockout. Huckaba does have two submission wins, so he may be just skilled enough to defend Severn’s grappling game if it does go to the ground.

Huckaba was last inside the cage on June 26 when he defeated Rick Randolph via second round TKO at “Gladiator Challenge: Validation.”

Huckaba at 34 years of age is 17 years the junior of Severn.
