During today’s conference call Affliction’s Tom Atencio confirmed that a Strikeforce fighter could replace Josh Barnett against Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction Trilogy. When asked about Strikeforce fighters, Tom Atencio said, “we do work with Strikeforce, we definitely share fighters, so we’re definitely talking to them.”

This announcement makes several potential opponents available for the job. Fabricio Werdum whose opponent, Alistair Overeem, recently pulled out and Brett Rogers would be the leading candidates to replace Josh Barnett.

However, as of right now, Atencio said, that no fighter had been signed. Rumors have circulated that Vitor Belfort verbally agreed to take the fight, but Atencio would not confirm anything. Stay close to PRO MMA (promma.info) for live updates.
