One of the best female fighters in the world has her next match set. Megumi Fujii will take on Saori Ishioka on Saturday July 11th. The fight will be contested at 114 pounds and will be the main event of JEWELS 4th Ring.
Saori Ishioka, who is being promoted as “The Face of JEWELS,” called out Mega-Megu in the ring at the last JEWELS event. It appears now that she will get her chance. Ishioka will be looking to continue her current three fight win streak.
Megumi Fujii has long been considered a top pound-for-pound female fighter. She sports a 17-0 record and has only let two of her fights go to decision. Fujii is also an ADCC veteran and an established grappler.
After her teammate, Hitomi Akano, fought in Strikeforce, there was a great deal of speculation that Fujii was going to bring her act State side. However, it has been reported that Strikeforce is having trouble finding her an opponent. With the expansion of women’s MMA, fans can only hope that Fujii’s future fights will be on a grander stage.
