PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned from American Top Team General Manager Richie Guerriero that ATT fighter Thiago Tavares (14-3) suffered an elbow injury and a fight with Melvin Guillard (21-7-2) at UFC 101 is no longer an option. The exact nature of the injury was not disclosed.

Tavares last fought at UFC 94 in January winning a unanimous decision over Manny Gamburyan (8-4). Guillard has not fought in the UFC or anywhere since July of 2008 when he defeated Dennis Siver by TKO at UFC 86.

There have been reports that Gleison Tibau (17-6), who is a teammate of Tavares at ATT, will step in to face Guillard and the fight will be at “The Ultimate Fighter season 9” finale on June 20.

The card will be headlined by a lightweight fight between Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez (20-2) vs. Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (25-9) and will also include “The Ultimate Fighter season 9” lightweight and welterweight finalists fighting for the legendary six-figure UFC contract.

Other bouts on the June 20th card include Nathan Diaz vs. Joe Stevenson, Anthony Johnson vs. Matt Brown, Chris Lytle vs. Kevin Burns, Eric Schafer vs. Tomasz Drwal, and Brad Blackburn vs. Edgar Garcia.
