On May 2nd, Don “The Predator” Frye returns to face judo champion Rich Moss at “Shark Fights 4” in Lubbock, Texas. The forty-three year old UFC and Pride veteran and MMA legend last fought and lost to Ikuhisa Minowa via kneebar in August of 2008 at “Deep: Gladiator”.
Don Frye has amassed a 19-7-1 record in his on again off again 13 year MMA career. Rich Moss is 7-2 as a pro and is a former National Judo and Pan American Champion.
“We are very excited to have Don Frye on the Shark Fight 4 card. He is an MMA fan favorite and a Legend in the sport. This bout is a great addition to our already stacked card, which includes veteran UFC, WEC and Pride fighters. The event will also feature two Texas Championship Title Fights. This is undoubtedly our most impressive fight card to date. Get ready for an exciting night of fights!” said Jim Larson, President of Shark Fight Promotions.
“Shark Fights 4” will also feature a heavyweight title bout between former NFL player Rex Richards (8-1) and Darrell Schoonover (13-0). Richards, a former Texas Tech and Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman, has moved down from super-heavyweight to heavyweight, in hopes of gaining a spot in the UFC. Richards, a Brazillian jiu-jitsu black belt, recently tried out at the Ultimate Fighter 10 open tryouts in Seattle, Washington.
One of, if not the most active fighter in MMA, Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch (43-62) will take on Anthony “TJ” Waldburger (9-5) for the Texas Welterweight Championship. Ritch, who began his MMA career in 1998 and has fought as many as eighteen times in one year, has over 100 professional fights and is on a four fight win streak.
The all-star lineup does not end with the fight card, as many famous fighters will be in attendance as well. Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello, Joe “Diesel” Riggs, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Demacio “The Angel of Death” Page and Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia are all reportedly showing up to watch “Shark Fights 4”.
