Kevin “The Monster” Randleman has a new job with STRIKEFORCE. According to a new report, Randleman has signed a contract with the San Jose based MMA promotion and will be competing in their light heavyweight division (186lbs. – 205lbs.).

Randleman, former UFC Heavyweight Champion and PRIDE veteran, last fought at SENGOKU’s Second Battle in May 2008, where he won a unanimous decision against Ryo Kawamura. Prior to that he was a staple in the PRIDE organization in Japan from 2002-2006 and the UFC from 1999-2002.

MMA records indicate Randleman’s professional MMA career actually started in 1996 in Brazil, where he fought his first eight fights. The 37 year old veteran has a record of 17-12, however, he comes from the era where some of his first fights were probably never recorded.

Randleman has fought a literal “who’s who” of MMA legends and greats. His addition to the STRIKEFORCE roster will allow many newer fans the opportunity to see one of the sport’s pioneers in action and will allow the older fans a chance to root for one of their heroes from the early days.

UPDATE: 3-12-09 PRO MMA (promma.info) learned today that although Kevin Randleman is in negotiations, he has NOT signed with STRIKEFORCE. Here is the update.
