UFC 95 took place today in London, England. It is airing tonight in the U.S. on SPIKE TV. We here at PRO MMA (http://promma.info) will be bringing you the round by round results starting at 8pm CST / 6pm PST. In the UFC 95 main event Diego Sanchez makes his lightweight debut against the very tough and durable Joe “Daddy” Stevenson. Other highly anticipated fights on the card include Nate Marquardt vs Wilson Gouveia, Demian Maia vs Chael Sonnen, Josh Koscheck vs and undefeated UFC newcomer and Junior Dos Santos in his sophomore return to the Octagon.

rd. 1 – Thiago is 10-0 coming into the UFC. He is a Jungle Fight veteran. Leg kick by Thiago. Big overhand right by Koscheck connects. Thiago eats it well. Big leg kick again from Thiago. Big right from Koscheck connects. Leg kick by Koscheck. High kick by Koscheck followed by a right hand that is partially blocked. Thiago throws a big uppercut that drops Koscheck. Thiago goes to follow up but the ref steps in and it’s over.
Paulo Thiago def. Josh Koscheck by TKO (uppercut) rd. 1 Koscheck is upset at the stoppage and recovered fairly quickly but after watching the replay it appeared to be a good decision by the referee.

(MW) Demian Maia vs. Chael Sonnen
rd. 1 – Sonnen catches Maia’s kick and throws him down but lets him back up. The two are exchanging and swinging big. Maia shoots, is stuffed, but pulls guard. Loses control and Sonnen is giving some ground and pound. Maia gets full guard but opens it up and Sonnen is back to his feet. Maia stands. They exchange a flurry of punches and Maia hip-tosses Sonnen to the ground, landing in a full mount, grabs an arm and allows Sonnen to roll right into a perfect triangle. Sonnen taps.
Demaian Maia def. Chael Sonnen by submission (triangle choke) rd. 1 Demian Maia says, “I want to show the world you can win the fight without hurting your opponent.”

(HW) Junior dos Santos (239) vs. Stefan Struve
rd. 1 – Struve is six foot-eleven. Leg kick by dos Santos. Big combination of punches drops Struve to the mat, he stands up but the flurry is still coming and he is folded once again. He thinks it was stopped early but he is the only one who believes that.
Junior dos Santos def. Stefan Struve by TKO (punches) rd. 1  This is Junior dos Santos’ second UFC fight and second knockout in the first round. His total time in the Octagon in two fights is under three minutes. His record is now 8-1. He’s one of the lighter heavyweights, weighing 239lbs. so it will be interesting to see if he remains at heavyweight and how he will do against the bigger guys like Carwin and Lesnar.

(MW) Nate Marquardt vs. Wilson Gouveia
rd. 1 – Big leg kick from Gouveia. Marquardt returns the favor. Head kick blocked by Gouveia, followed by a leg kick from Marquardt that lands, and another leg kick. Nice left hand from Gouveia as Marquardt retreats and Gouveia chases. Gouveia stalking Marquardt with punches. Marquardt backpedaling. Front kick by Marquardt followed by a head kick and a leg kick, Superman punch. Gouveia fires back with punches. Marquardt shoots for the take-down and Gouveia pulls guard into a guillotine. Marquardt slips his head out. Elbows from the top by Marquardt then a punch and a knee to Gouveia’s back. I give the round to Marquardt for landing more strikes and the take-down. Gouveia just did not land that many effective strikes although he was coming forward more than Nate.
rd. 2 – Leg kick by Marquardt. Gouveia reaches in with some punches but misses mostly. Leg kick by Gouveia. Gouveia lands a right and pushes the action. Marquardt fires back with a right hand and a knee that connects. They clinch up but not before a flurry of strikes. Marquardt eats one that rocks him. Gouveia rushes in but Marquardt gets him down and takes his back. Gouveia escapes and pulls guard. Marquardt lands some good elbows from the guard. Gouveia lands an elbow from the bottom. Gouveia stands and Marquardt tries a standing guillotine to no avail. Gouveia walks him down swinging. Leg kick by Marquardt followed by a right hand, a knee, a flurry of punches that wobble Gouveia, he’s hurt but the bell sounds most likely saving him.
rd. 3 – Side kick by Marquardt lands but not much on it. Gouveia lands a few punches and Marquardt retreats. Nate holds on to Gouveia’s waist while standing. Looking for a take-down. Gouveia breaks free. Gouveia looking winded. Huge flying knee connects to Gouveia’s chin by Marguardt, Gouveia retreats as Marguardt attacks with two kicks, Gouveia’s back is to the cage. Here comes the combination of the night as Marquardt throws a roundhouse kick to the head followed by a spinning back-fist followed by a right hand in one beautiful fluid motion. They all connect, Marquardt throws a punch and a knee to the head for good measure and Gouveia goes down as the referee steps in to save him. The beginning of the end was the beautiful flying knee.

(LW) Terry Etim vs Brian Cobb
rd. 1 – Leg kick by Etim. Cobb with a jab. Huge leg kick by Etim. Another one to the inside. Cobb gets a takedown and isin Etim’s full guard. Etim holds on stalling action and forces a stand-up. Leg kick by Etim. Uppercut by Etim followed by two more leg kicks. Another leg kick followed by a head kick. Etim pulls guard as Cobb goes for a take-down. Cobb in Etim’s guard and landing body shots. Etim holds on stalling the action until ref stands them up again. Cobb’s standup looks awkward and Etim is eating him up. A few more leg kicks from Etim, body kick, and then a take-down. Bell sounds just as Etim stands up.
rd. 2 – Right leg kick by Etim followed by a left roundhouse kick to the head by Etim that drops Brian Cobb to the mat. Ref steps in and that’s all she wrote for newcomer, Brian Cobb.

rd. 1 – Dunham lands a big left hand that stuns Eklund. Eklund shoots and Dunham pulls guard. Goes for a guillotine but Eklund is out. Dunham in Eklund’s guard looking for a armbar. Head kick by Eklund. Right hand by Eklund. A right, left combo from Dunham. Big left hand from Dunham connects and drops Per Eklund to the mat. It is a brutal shot and Eklund falls like a tree that was cut. Props to Shawn Tompkins, Dunham’s striking coach.

(HW) Neil Grove vs. Mike Ciesnolevicz
rd. 1 – I’ve always wondered how Neil Grove got the huge scar on his forehead. It looks like he got hit with an axe. Left hand by Grove, Mike shoots and pulls guard. Neil is in half guard. Mike looking for a leg lock. Neil goes for an ankle lock of his own. Mike Ciesnolevicz has a heel hook, pulls it tight and Neil Grove taps out but he does not stand up for a minute or two and is limping badly. He is hurt.

rd. 1 – Leg kick by Hardy. Left hook by Markham. Markham bleeding from his nose from a punch. Hardy explodes with a left hook that drops Markham. Hardy follows up with a flurry up punches to the downed opponent and the referee quickly intervenes.

(LW) Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson
rd. 1 – Stevenson lands a couple of rights. Body shot and a big right hand by Sanchez. A left and right by Stevenson connect. Head kick by Sanchez is blocked. Nice right hand by Sanchez followed by a combo. Sanchez moves in with a flurry of punches that land. Stevenson fires back. Stevenson is only boxing, no kicks, nothing else, just boxing. Stevenson eats a big punch. Sanchez eats one. Knee to the mid-section by Sanchez. Stevenson is smiling. Big uppercut by Sanchez. Stevenson puts hand out to tap gloves after the round.
rd. 2 – Sanchez lands a big right hand followed by a flying knee that connects. Stevenson wobbles. Sanchez shoots in. They scramble and Stevenson is back to his feet holding Diego in the air by his leg. Diego drops to his feet and they square up again. Stevenson grabs a guillotine, Diego picks him up over his head and drops him hard to the mat. They scramble then stand up. Right hand by Stevenson. Left hand by Stevenson connects. Diego with the combos. Nice right hook by Diego. Uppercut by Joe. Diego moves in and eats one. Stevenson fighting very predictable with nothing but punches. High kick by Sanchez and again.
rd. 3 – Right hand by Joe. Both guys swinging but Diego landing the more significant strikes. Joe winds up his right hand but nothing comes of the show. Diego shoots but Stevenson stuffs it. Stevenson thinks he deserves some cheer for that and asks the crowd to applaud. They appease him and then Joe eats some more of Diego’s punches. Stevenson trying to put on some final pressure but it is just not enough. Diego lands a combo. Left hook by Joe. Diego goes for the take-down but Stevenson ends up stopping it and they square back up. Joe keeps telling Diego to bring it on and they both slug it out until the bell sounds. Joe throws up his hands and asks the crowd for more cheers.
