It has been reported that female fighter Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has signed an exclusive deal with the San Jose based promotion Strikeforce. Apparently Santos was one of the 42 fighter contracts that was purchased by Strikeforce from Pro Elite last week.

In addition to purchasing the contracts, Strikeforce has also come to a broadcast agreement with Showtime and CBS – the former television partners of Elite XC.

When Elite XC closed its door last fall, a fight that many MMA fans were clamoring to see was Santos versus the so called “face of women’s MMA,” Gina Carano. It appears now that Strikeforce is set to inherit one of the highest profile female fights in history. The promotion has confirmed that Carano’s was also one of the contracts purchased, and they are in the process of modifying it to suit the star’s needs.

Mike Afromowitz, Strikeforce’s Director of Communication, has said that the promotion has invited Carano to be a part of their next card, but as of right now nothing has been confirmed.
