It was announced today during the UFC 93 broadcast from Dublin, Ireland that the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will fight “The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine in the main event at UFC 96 in Columbus, Ohio on March 7, 2009.

Quinton Jackson is coming off a huge knockout win against Wanderlei Silva in a grudge match after Silva defeated Jackson twice in Japan in the PRIDE organization. Keith Jardine is also coming off a win. His victory came at UFC 89 where he eeked out a split decision victory against Brandon “The Truth” Vera.

Surely, Jackson is looking to get back in title contention and with a win over Jardine that is most likely right where he will be. Many thought with his victory over Wanderlei the UFC may already match him up against Rashad Evans for a title shot. It will be very interesting to see who Evans gets matched up with for his first Light Heavyweight Title defense.

Also on the UFC 96 card is Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shane Carwin in a highly anticipated heavyweight bout that will surely be a huge test for both fighters. Carwin is undefeated in ten fights and has never been out of the first round.
