Affliction is holding a media press conference in Hollywood this Wednesday to promote January 24th’s Day of Reckoning.

Fighters who will be attending the press conference on Wednesday will be ANDREI ARLOVSKI, JOSH BARNETT, VITOR BELFORT, MATT LINDLAND, RENATO “BABALU” SOBRAL, THIERRY SOKOUDJOU, CHRIS HORODECKI, DAN LAUZON, VLADIMIR MATYUSHENKO, and more! Of course these are all fighters on the card.

What is surprising is a special guest has been announced to appear at the press conference and it is none other than The Huntington Beach Bad Boy himself, TITO ORTIZ. Why would Tito be “special guest” at this event that is meant to publicize Day of Reckoning unless there was something in the works here? Either that, or it is a marketing strategy to attract more media attention to the press conference.

We (PRO MMA – http://promma.info) received an invitation MEDIA ALERT to attend this press conference and on the alert it clearly reads “SPECIAL GUEST – TITO ORTIZ”. Clearly, the Huntington Beach Bad Boy won’t be fighting on the January 24th card but they could possibly be announcing an agreement has been reached or contract signed between Ortiz and Affliction.

Ever since Ortiz appeared on The Apprentice and Affliction announced it’s partnership with Donald Trump, the probability that these three entities would one day join forces seemed inevitable.

The Affliction: Day of Reckoning press conference will be held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel – Cinegrill Room on Dec. 17 at 12:00 noon.

Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and brought to you by Affliction Entertainment and its partners, Donald J. Trump and M-1 Global, Affliction “Day of Reckoning” is scheduled to include 11 bouts of fierce, full-throttle battle and will take place on January 24, 2009 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

  1. Smoke and Mirrors…there’s no way Ortiz will be able to fight by July 09. Furthermore, it’s doubtful Affliction will be around in July. Who is going to give him the amount of money he wants, without them knowing if he is even capable of fighting again or not. I mean he is coming off of back surgery. My opinion is he’ll either re-sign with the UFC eventually, or never fight again. Ortiz without the UFC pushing him is just another name.

  2. I agree that Affliction may not be around, but I have seen pictures of Tito in an Affliction clothing ad, so its not so far fetched. Affliction needs a good self promoter and Tito could be that guy, I just think its too little, too late for Affliction.
