“XFC 24: Collision Course” takes place this evening at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. In the main event Scott “Hotsauce” Holtzman faces John Mahlow for the XFC lightweight title. Mahlow was the XFC’s very first 155 pound champion several years ago and hopes to reclaim his former glory this evening, but standing in his way is Knoxville, Tennessee’s Holtzman who remains undefeated in his pro MMA career and is 4-0 in the XFC cage.

A huge weekend is on tap in our world and tonight we look to break down just a portion of it. The fun kicks off Friday night with XFC 24 from Tampa, Florida as Scott Holtzman looks to take the XFC lightweight championship but standing in his way is a former champ and grizzled veteran of the sport in John Mahlow. A huge card is on tap from the USF Sundome. Saturday night we travel to Florence, KY for a stacked card at Turf Wars 12. Eugene Perrin puts his undefeated pro record on the line against fellow unbeaten Robert White.

After Nick Newell announced his departure from the XFC and would not be defending his lightweight title against Scott Holtzman at XFC 24 next month, the organization scrambled to find a “worthy” replacement to bring in for an immediate title fight.

Sunday night is upon us and so is a new round of interviews and conversation tonight on Pro MMA Now Radio. Several big happenings this weekend as MFC 37 took place Friday night in Edmonton. We were on hand for V3Fights in Nashville and have the recap of both events as well as two interviews on tap.

Nick Newell fires back at XFC

It was announced by Florida-based MMA promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships on Friday they had stripped their lightweight champion Nick Newell (9-0) of his title for refusing to fight Scott Holtzman (4-0) in the XFC 24 main event on June 14, a fight the organization had been promoting and selling tickets to for some time.

The main event of XFC 24 was set to pit fast rising lightweight Scott Holtzman (4-0) against the champion Nick Newell (9-0). Newell made his way through the ranks after the XFC signed him following their open fighter tryouts. Holtzman won his way into the promotion as an amateur and has since finished three of his four opponents to capture the number one contender spot for Newell’s belt. We learned today that Newell has refused to sign a contract to fight Holtzman.
