Ikuhisa Minowa knocks out Sokoudjou to become Super Hulk Tournament winner

Minowaman wins the Super Hulk Tournament!

In a surprise ending to DREAM’s Super Hulk Tournament, Ikuhisa “The Punk” Minowa knocked out Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the third round of their New Year’s Eve bout at FieLDS Dynamite!! 2009 in Saitama, Japan.

Each fighter appeared to have won one round a piece going into the third and final round. Both fighters were very tentative in the third, and in fact were penalized with two yellow cards a piece for inactivity. However, when Minowa finally struck, he only needed one punch to land, and Sokoudjou went to the mat.

It was a short left hook that dropped Sokoudjou backward, bending his legs beneath him, and caused the referee to step in. Sokoudjou appeared to think the stoppage was early, but it was too late, the Japanese were already celebrating their hero.

Xtreme Fighting Championship is the most successful MMA promotion in Florida. Over 11,200 fans were in attendance this evening, surpassing XFC’s June 28 attendance of 10,700. This was the fourth consecutive XFC event to fill at least 10,000 seats.

“It feels great to be back,” McGee stated in a post-fight interview. “I love fighting. I [expletive] love it! Really short guys are really hard to hit, but I did what I had to do. ‘The Giant’ is back!”

Rashad Evans Could Upset Chuck Liddell At UFC 88

by: Kelvin Hunt

Rashad brings a decent chin, adequate standup game, questionable stamina, but is a much better athlete than Couture or Ortiz. I think the X-factor for Evans will be his stamina. If he comes into this fight in shape, I think his chances of winning go up dramatically. Now let’s take a look some of the factors that could affect the outcome of this fight:
