Roy “Big Country” Nelson took time out following his open workout Wednesday at the MGM Grand to talk with ProMMAnow.com and other members of the media regarding his thoughts on TRT and steroids in MMA. Nelson also discussed potentially dropping to light heavyweight and how he felt about the last minute change in opponents for UFC 146. Nelson will now face Dave Herman as part of the UFC 146 main card on Saturday.
ProMMAnow.com reporter Joe Gugelman put on his photographer’s hat today at the UFC 146 pre-fight press conference held in the lobby of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. UFC 146 features an all-heavyweight main card headlined by Junior Dos Santos vs. Frank Mir which will air live on Pay-Per-View on Saturday.
ProMMAnow.com caught up with Mir at the UFC 146 open workouts on Wednesday and asked him about certain statements Dos Santos had made about Mir not being a man, that he lacked heart and had a tendency to give up during fights.
Today’s UFC 146 pre-fight press conference takes place at the MGM lobby in Las Vegas and will stream LIVE on ProMMAnow.com at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT). Heavyweight headliners Junior Dos Santos and Frank Mir, co-headliners Cain Velasquez and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, and other main card participants are expected to attend.
The UFC 146 co-main event will feature a heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and former EliteXC Heavyweight Champion Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. This is an important bout not only because it’s the co-main event, but because a win here for either fighter would be huge for their careers.
Fans and media members came out to see UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos at Wednesday’s open workout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Dos Santos did a light workout hitting mitts and working heavy combinations, then took some time to answer questions from reporters.
The all heavyweight main card at UFC 146 will feature a bout between two quickly rising heavyweight prospects in Shane del Rosario and Stipe Miocic. Both fighters are undefeated and have decorated backgrounds with Rosario being a former kickboxing champion, and Miocic a former Golden Gloves winner and national wrestling champion at Cleveland State University. The winner of this fight is looking to shed the “prospect” tag and announce themselves as legit threats to be on the lookout for.
