Steve Carl to defend WSOF title against Rousimar Palhares on March 29th

It is probably the most stacked division in Ray Sefo’s World Series of Fighting. The welterweights all have value and talent as a group that is headed by champion Steve Carl. Carl will make his first title defense in March against newly acquired Rousimar Palhares. MMAJunkie.com had the report early this morning.

Why Cutting Palhares was the Right Move

First off, I want to say that I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rousimar Palhares as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and as a fighter; well at least I did before some of his recent antics. With that being said, Palhares is a complete and total scumbag; I think Chael’s next rant of despicable Brazilians should include Palhares for not only what he did recently to Pierce, but to a range of other competitors in the past.

UFC cuts Rousimar Palhares, Palhares just wanted to finish the fight

UFC President Dana White announces that Rousimar Palhares has been cut from the UFC following his submission win over Mike Pierce on Wednesday night. The fight with Mike Pierce which took place at the UFC Fight Night 29 event in Brazil, is the second time that Palhares has held a submission long after a fighter has tapped out.

Three bouts added to UFC on FX 5 in Minnesota

UFC officials have confirmed three more bouts for the UFC on FX 5 event that’s slated for October 5th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A lightweight bout between Jeremy Stephens and Yves Edwards has verbal agreements in place. Also, Phil Harris will replace an injured Louis Gaudinot in a flyweight bout against Darren Uyenoyama. Finally, welterweights Mike Pierce and Aaron Simpson will do battle on the card
