Wolf’s Lair drug tests their own fighters – Cheick Kongo envies Brock Lesnar’s title

Here’s an interesting video about the Wolf’s Lair, the new home of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Cheick Kongo in England. Apparently the Wolf’s Lair does drug testing (steroids, etc.) on their own fighters to avoid any surprises. UFC 91 PPV numbers look good

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting early returns on UFC 91 pay-per-view buys range from 800,000-850,000 purchases. While Couture vs. Lesnar did not quite hit the 1.2 million mark Dana White openly predicted, UFC 91 ranks only behind UFC 66 Liddell vs Ortiz 2 in terms of PPV buys.

The Dana White media machine provided the public with enough UFC Kool-aid to make people want to spend $44.95 on the bout.  Although the UFC 91 card had many exciting finishes, as a whole it did not have much star power outside the main event.

Chris Leben disappoints

by: Jack Bratcher

Those who watched UFC 89 were bound to notice the improved physique of one Chris Leben. His main event bout against Michael Bisping was an inspiring performance where he looked calm and relaxed and constantly pushed the pace throwing the bombs he’s known for. However, Bisping out-pointed the Hawaiian transplant with a defensive, elusive and tactical gameplan.

Much ado was made recently about Leben maturing as a fighter and as a person. Gone are the days of the self-destructive alcoholic punker spritzing on the pillows of his fellow TUF cast members. “Maturity” was the new catch word for Leben. Apparently, he’s moved on and picked up some new more “adult” vices.

UFC 89 Predictions – CB’s Picks

by:  Cory Brady

Michael Bisping Vs. Chris Leben
This one is very interesting because the winner is very likely to get a shot at Anderson Silva’s title sometime in the very near future. From the pictures and training footage I’ve seen on Chris he looks to be in the best shape of his life and seems to have really rededicated himself to fighting since his move to Hawaii. Leben is tenacious and always seems one punch away from a KO victory while Bisping is extremely well rounded with solid wrestling and submission skills with very sharp and technical striking. They always say styles make fights and well, this is one of those fights. Both fighters are hungry to prove that they are among the best at 185 and will likely waste little time before turning this one into a skillful brawl. I feel like both of these guys will be gunning for the knockout so I would expect most of the fight to be a fast paced stand up affair. While Leben’s punches seem to be the more powerful of the two it will not make a big difference in this fight. Look for Bisping to land clean straight shots from the outside while avoiding Leben’s wide and powerful punches on his way to a second round TKO victory.
