The Ultimate Fighter: US vs. UK episode 10 recap

Episode 10 starts with the coaches and UFC President Dana White meeting to determine the semifinal matchups. The coaches give their opinions on the matchups but Dana wants to ask the fighters also.

It’s clear that at least two fighters really want to meet up in the semi’s, and that is Damarques Johnson and James Wilks. When asked why he wants to fight Wilks, Damarques simply replies, “because I want to hurt his feelings.”

Cameron Dollar gives Dana an idea when asked who he wants to fight, expressing the desire to fight his own teammate Jason Dent. Dana then approaches both coaches with an idea to pair up teammates in the semis to assure one team U.S. fighter and one team U.K. fighter in the finals. Neither coach is excited at the prospect of their guys fighting teammates, and eventually Dana decides to keep the format as planned.

This week’s show begins at the training center with coach Dan Henderson taking his guys through a session of training, and Jason Pierce talking about his lingering and new injuries, explaining why he hasn’t yet fought.

“It’s one thing after another, being here this season… I don’t know, I busted my foot open the first fight, I haven’t been able to train the way that I want, and now I’m getting staph in my foot.”

After Pierce’s thoughts on the effects of staph infections and his wishes that he NOT fight a U.K. fighter with reduced training, Bisping and his troops are in the training center for a workout.

As the episode starts viewers are treated to seeing Team US fighter Richie Whitson’s herpes-like sore on his lip as he talks to his housemates about it and they spray disinfectant around the house to prevent the spread of the funk. He assures viewers it is not herpes.

Team UK worked out with sledgehammers, swinging them over head and hitting tires. One of the guys miss the tire completely and puts a hole in the expensive mat. Another fighter misses the tire and hits the concrete floor. David Faulkner apparently hit his leg with the sledgehammer and now the injury has become infected.

Coach Dan Henderson said he doesn’t know what’s going on with Jason Pierce. Team US assistant coach Cyrille Diabate said Pierce has a negative attitude, then gives a speech to the team letting the guys know just like their bodies, their attitudes need training too. Pierce’s teammates also complain about his negativity.
