Revolution Fight League “Maximum Impact” results & photos

PRO MMA (promma.info) was on hand at Revolution Fight League’s “Maximum Impact” card held this past Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Horseshoe Casino in New Albany, Ind.

A sell out crowd of over 3000 fans were in attendance to see Ron “The Monster” Sparks of Louisville MMA crowned the new RFL Super Heavyweight Champion with a unanimous decision victory over Clarksville, Tenn.’s Johnathan Ivey in the main event.

Both guys were looking to land the big punch early and it was Ivey who landed some good combos first. However, toward the end of the first round Sparks opened up with combinations and knee strikes that had Ivey backing up to take the round.

Caged Chaos brings successful first show to Clarksville, TN on March 15

CAGED CHAOS brought their live MMA show to Clarksville, Tennessee for the first time on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Kickers night club. With about 500 people in attendance, the promoter was pleased with the success of the show and plans to return to Clarksville for another event in April. Stay tuned to PRO MMA (promma.info) for that announcement.

Local teams represented at this event included John Renken’s Team Havoc from Clarksville MMA and Mike Merriman’s Team Wildside from Olympic 24 HR Gym. Other MMA gyms from Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri also had fighters competing.

Gan McGee victorious in MMA return

Gan “The Giant” McGee made his return to the cage tonight after retiring from professional MMA competition four years ago. McGee, once a top-contender UFC heavyweight, faced Jonathan Ivey at XFC’s SOAF 5 – Return of the Giant in Tampa, Florida. 11,250 came out to see “The Giant” destroy his opponent with a second round TKO.

Xtreme Fighting Championship is the most successful MMA promotion in Florida. Over 11,200 fans were in attendance this evening, surpassing XFC’s June 28 attendance of 10,700. This was the fourth consecutive XFC event to fill at least 10,000 seats.

“It feels great to be back,” McGee stated in a post-fight interview. “I love fighting. I [expletive] love it! Really short guys are really hard to hit, but I did what I had to do. ‘The Giant’ is back!”
