On Saturday night, World Series of Fighting crowns its first-ever champion, and today the promotion revealed the prize for which they’ll be competing. Custom-designed by A.J. LaFons, the World Series of Fighting championship belt features more than 43 carats of genuine ruby, diamond, emerald, sapphire and red garnet and weighs in at a total of 10 pounds, 7 ounces.
This Saturday Josh Burkman and Steve Carl will meet in Coral Gables, Florida to determine who gets to be the first World Series of Fighting champion. Burkman is 3-0 inside of the promotion posting back to back first round finishes over Aaron Simpson and Jon Fitch. Carl is on a six fight winning streak including two first round submission wins for WSOF.
World Series of Fighting hosted a media conference call on Monday with “World Series of Fighting 6: Burkman vs. Carl” headliners Josh Burkman (26-9) and Steve Carl (20-3), as well as main-card competitors Marlon Moraes (11-4-1), Carson Beebe (14-2), Jon Fitch (24-6-1), Marcelo Alfaya (15-4), and preliminary card headliner Miguel Angel Torres (40-6).
The lineup for World Series of Fighting’s first-ever trip to Florida continues to fill with the addition of three new preliminary contests, including lightweights Luiz “Buscape” Firmino (16-6) vs. Jacob “Feelgood” Volkmann (16-4), featherweights Nick LoBosco (6-0) vs. Fabio Mello (11-6) and featherweights Alexandre “Pulga” Pimentel (12-1) vs. Jade Porter (9-3).
