You only get one shot at a first impression, so, when Michigan's own Dom O'Grady (16-6) decided he would introduce himself to the XFC, and it's legion of fans, he planned to make an impression they won't soon forget; and tapped out top contender Eric Reynolds. O'Grady is a true veteran of the sport. With a professional career dating back to 2007, O'Grady has been competing domestically and internationally for over six years. Between 2010 and 2012, O'Grady fought eight times for King of the Cage, with an unprecedented six of those eight bouts for promotional titles. It looks like it was a rough night for some of the fighters in Muskegon, Michigan. All fighters took to the scales ahead of tomorrow night's XFC 27 event and it appears weight was an issue. Several fighters came in off the mark by several pounds. Sources close to the situation said the positioning of the scale played a part as well as some of Michigan's rules as to weight allowance. We learned that as long as you are within 5 pounds of your opponent's weight the fight will still be approved. Read More »

XFC lands Latin American network deal, will air on REDE TV

The contracts are signed and the Featherweight Main Event is set for XFC 27 in Muskegon, MI Live on AXS TV Friday Dec. 13th. Former XFC Lightweight World Champion Junior Assuncao (14-5) returns to the cage ready to face off against newly signed 22 year old Daniel Swain (10-2). Injuries happen. Promoters, fighters and fans have all learned to accept this reality. But, what many people seem to forget is, fighters are also human, and a simple illness can sneak up on you at the worst possible time. Unfortunately for Strawweight Brianna Van Buren, this is the situation she finds herself in, just one week out from her nationally televised fight with Heather Jo Clark. Van Buren’s camp contacted the XFC early Tuesday morning to inform them of Brianna’s Flu like symptoms, and by late afternoon it was confirmed; Van Buren would not be cleared to compete at Night of Champions III on Oct 18th. In 2010, Assuncao, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Black Rope in Capoeira, defeated John Mahlow to capture the XFC Lightweight Championship. Before being able to defend his new title, Assuncao was offered the opportunity to return to the UFC, so with the blessing of XFC President John Prisco, Junior was let out of his contract and he respectfully vacated his belt.
