Letter from MMA Big Show promoter Jason Appleton regarding Gary Goodridge

MMA Big Show’s next event, “New Dawn,” is scheduled to take place this Saturday in Indiana. In a now well-known and much-publicized move, “New Dawn” headliner Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge decided to take a last-minute fight in Japan against StrikeForce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi on New Year’s Eve at the “Dynamite!!” show. As a result of his TKO loss, the Indiana State Athletic Commission has decided not to license Goodridge. As of this past Monday, it was understood that Goodridge would still be allowed to fight. However, that has obviously changed.

Furthermore, due to the actions of the understaffed Commission, MMA Big Show Owner/Promoter Jason Appleton has made the difficult decision to pull the professional bouts off the card. “New Dawn” will continue with a full amateur card, and discounts for Feb 20th will be awarded to ticket-holders. “Mayhem” will explode at MMA Big Show’s September 12th event

On September 12th, “MAYHEM” will commence at the Belterra Casino Resort & Spa in Indiana, as rising fight promotion MMA Big Show presents its next event.

Former MMA Big Show Middleweight Champion and ex-Rich Franklin training partner Mojo Horne (6-1) recently lost his title to John Troyer at the June 20th “CONVICTION” event, and he’s hungry to earn a title rematch.

Standing in his way, and looking to get his own shot at the title will be EliteXC, Bellator, KOTC and ShoXC veteran Bubba “The Menace” McDaniels (13-5), as these two will face off in the co-main event of “MAYHEM.”

Johnny Rees takes on Chris Wells in MMA Big Show main event set for July 25th in Indiana

INDIANA (July 20, 2009) – Indiana’s top fight promotion, MMA Big Show, is putting on a show that can only be labeled as “UNSTOPPABLE.” The Belterra Casino Resort & Spa in Veevay, Indiana will be the site, and 12 professional and amateur bouts will be presented.

Featured in the main event will be two-time UFC veteran Johnny “The Hater Hurter” Rees taking on Jorge Gurgel Academy Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt Chris Wells in an anticipated bout. Sporting a 10-2 record with eight submission victories, Rees is a respected ground fighter with a desire to prove he’s amongst the best of the best. Standing in his way is Chris Wells, who’s looking to leap-frog his opponent and make a name for himself.

Revolution Fight League “Maximum Impact” results & photos

PRO MMA (promma.info) was on hand at Revolution Fight League’s “Maximum Impact” card held this past Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Horseshoe Casino in New Albany, Ind.

A sell out crowd of over 3000 fans were in attendance to see Ron “The Monster” Sparks of Louisville MMA crowned the new RFL Super Heavyweight Champion with a unanimous decision victory over Clarksville, Tenn.’s Johnathan Ivey in the main event.

Both guys were looking to land the big punch early and it was Ivey who landed some good combos first. However, toward the end of the first round Sparks opened up with combinations and knee strikes that had Ivey backing up to take the round.

“Revolution Fight League: Maximum Impact” takes place June 27 in Hammond, Indiana

The Revolution Fight League based out of Louisville, Ky., will be holding its first event of 2009, “Maximum Impact,” at Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. this Sat., June 27.

Headlining the card will be a heavyweight bout between Clarksville, Tenn.’s Johnathan Ivey *(38-21) and Louisville MMA’s Ron “The Monster” Sparks, who comes in with an undefeated **7-0 record.

Ivey, while not boasting the best record, has fought many of the world’s top heavyweights including UFC veterans Dan Severn, Ricco Rodriguez and Jake O’Brien just to name a few.
