Ultimate Fighters duke it out with Shane Primm defeating Mike Dolce at Music City MMA

Music City MMA held their “Rock & Havoc” show Saturday night, July 18, in Nashville, Tenn. at the Municipal Auditorium. Headlining the event was The Ultimate Fighter season 8 contestant and local fighter made big Shane Primm taking on The Ultimate Fighter season 7 veteran Mike Dolce.

Primm in only his fourth pro fight and his first bout at middleweight took out the much more experienced Dolce with a first round TKO. PRO MMA(promma.info) spoke to Shane after the bout to get his thoughts on how things went down.

“The fight actually went a little different than I expected. I thought Dolce was going to come out early and press me, cut down the distance, and try to brawl given his reach disadvantage,” said Primm. “He instead played on the outside which fit well into my game and my natural advantages.”

Shane Primm prepares for July 18 bout with Mike Dolce – PRO MMA exclusive interview

This Saturday July 18, Music City MMA will host “Rock & Havoc” at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. Headlining the card will be Ultimate Fighter veterans Shane Primm (2-1) of TUF 8 taking on Mike Dolce (4-6) of TUF 7.

Shane Primm began his mixed martial arts training in 2004 about 45 minutes southeast of Nashville, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at Guardian MMA. He eventually turned pro, began training at Gracie Tampa, and was cast for The Ultimate Fighter season 8.

After losing his last bout back in December against the larger and much more experienced Krzysztof Soszynski at the TUF 8 Finale, Shane is moving down to middleweight for the first time. Shane will be looking to get back on track and what better place to do it than in front of his home crowd? PRO MMA (promma.info) recently caught up with Shane for a few questions.

GAMENESS FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP – GFC 2 summary & results from Nashville, TN

GAMENESS FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP’s GFC 2 took place at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds Sports Arena on Saturday, Feb. 14, in Nashville, TN. The fights started at 8pm but the doors opened at 7pm and the place was already packed. It was a cold night in the city but this didn’t keep the fans away, just as the snow didn’t deter the fans from GFC’s inaugural show back in December.

This was the same Sports Arena I came with my Dad to watch local Pro Wrestling shows as a kid. Pro Wrestling stars such as Dutch Mantell, the Iron Shiek, and Jerry Lawler were larger than life and fascinated me as a child. A few decades later I’m back in the same arena but this time the action is real.

PRO MMA Gym Spotlight: Guardian MMA Pt. 1

One of PRO MMA’s missions is to take the reader behind the scenes to get a better look at what has made MMA into the fastest growing sport in the world. Fans often get just a glimpse behind the scenes of an MMA fight with shows like the UFC Countdown series, The Ultimate Fighter series, and the Tapout reality shows.

We read or hear about the training camps and gym affiliations that guys are associated with, and learn that there are many people involved in preparing these athletes to do battle.  An MMA fighter relies on coaches, trainers, managers, agents, training partners, and promoters but the base of operations is a home gym.

Many guys cross train at multiple gyms, but their home gym is often where it all started.  Whether it is a tiny MMA gym in a small town in Anywhere USA, or a large franchise of gyms like Xtreme Couture, the gym is like a second home to many fighters both amateur and professional.

TUF 8 Recap – Episode 1

By Denny “The Mad One” Hodge

This should have been posted last evening, but I had the privilege of watching the show with members of my gym at Guardian MMA, which included one of the fighters from Season 8, Shane Primm . We’ve all been looking forward to seeing one of our own in the UFC Octagon and couldn’t wait to see Shane in action since the announcement was made that he would be on the show.  Shane is the fourth fighter from Gracie Tampa, and the first from Guardian MMA that has made it onto The Ultimate Fighter, and we expect big things from the young and talented light heavyweight.  That being said, there has been a lot of talk in forums on the web about Jason Guida, Lance Evans, and Joe Duarte.  Some had even speculated that the “next Anderson Silva” comment made by Dana White may have been referring to Duarte. Much to my surprise, none of these these three fighters even made it into the house after the first episode.
