The main event of XFC 24 was set to pit fast rising lightweight Scott Holtzman (4-0) against the champion Nick Newell (9-0). Newell made his way through the ranks after the XFC signed him following their open fighter tryouts. Holtzman won his way into the promotion as an amateur and has since finished three of his four opponents to capture the number one contender spot for Newell's belt. Fighter weigh-ins for "MFC 37: True Grit" took place today in preparation for Friday's fight card at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The event, which will broadcast LIVE on AXStv, with prelims streaming on Facebook, features Ryan Benoit (6-1) vs. Anthony Birchak (9-1) in the main event. UFC inks three-year TV deal with BT Sport
