Is John Howard ready for the likes of Dennis Hallman?

John “Doomsday” Howard (12-4, 2-0 UFC) is in for the fight of his life this weekend. The UFC rookie will take on UFC veteran and MMA legend Dennis “Superman” Hallman (41-12-2, 1-3 UFC), who is making his UFC return Saturday night at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in Las Vegas, Nev.

Hallman’s last bout inside the Octagon took place in Oct. 2005 against Jorge Rivera at UFC 55. Hallman lost that fight by unanimous decision. Since then, he has gone 7-1, with his most recent fight being a 20 second rear-naked choke submission victory over Justin Davis at Strikeforce – Challengers Series 2 back in June.

John “Doomsday” Howard arrived on the UFC scene in January 2009, at UFC 94, where he defeated Chris Wilson via split decision. Six months later he returned at UFC 101, where he took home another split decision victory, this time over Tamdan McCrory.

Now, prepared for his third UFC fight of the year at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on Dec. 5, John Howard’s caliber of opponent moves up dramatically as he takes on MMA legend Dennis “Superman” Hallman. Howard realizes the significance of the fight and agrees it will be the biggest test of his career.

ProMMA.info spoke with “Doomsday” on Wednesday about the upcoming bout, and what it means to him to fight someone with Hallman’s experience. We also talked to John about where he grew up, his MMA beginnings, training at Wai Kru, and much more.

After four year absence Dennis Hallman returns to the UFC to face John Howard (updated)

Dennis “Superman” Hallman is expected to make his first UFC appearance in four years when he faces John “Doomsday” Howard inside the Octagon later this year.

MMAJunkie.com is reporting the fight is scheduled for UFC 106 which is set to take place on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. However, our source (along with Hallman’s manager) indicates the fight will take place on Dec. 5, which would make it part of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale being held at the Palms Casino Resort also in Las Vegas.

PROMMA.INFO received news of the match-up Sunday evening from a source close to Howard’s management.
