“All of them better be ready because I’m on my way” – PRO MMA exclusive with Bobby Lashley

Former WWE star turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley revealed to PRO MMA (promma.info) this past weekend his plans to work with TNA approximately four days a month in addition to his full-time MMA career. According to Lashley, wrestling for TNA would provide him with some much-needed extra income. Traveling back and forth from his home in Colorado to train with American Top Team in Florida is not cheap.

In addition, Lashley filled us in on details surrounding his upcoming fight with Bob Sapp as well as his signing with Maximum Fighting Championship. Lashley attended “XFC 8: Regional Conflict” in Knoxville, TN on April 25th to present the XFC Featherweight Title and to sign a fight contracts with both the MFC and XFC on the same night.

Lashley also gave us his opinion on UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, talked about his conversations with UFC President Dana White, and if there could be a future for him with MMA’s premiere organization.

XFC 8: REGIONAL CONFLICT photo gallery

PRO MMA (promma.info) was on hand at “XFC 8: Regional Conflict” Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee on the University of Tennessee Campus. This was the XFC’s second trip to Knoxville and the fans will surely be waiting for the promotion’s promised return.

From the main card opening bout’s highly entertaining heavyweight antics of Johnathan Ivey vs. Christopher Barnett to the technicality of the main event Featherweight Title fight between Jarrod Card vs. Bruce Connors, viewers at home were treated to Xtreme Fighting Championships’ debut on HDNet. In addition to the six fights broadcast on TV, those in attendance were also treated to three undercard fights.

Bobby Lashley gives his thoughts on Ken Shamrock’s steroid suspension

As PRO MMA (promma.info) reported on Wednesday, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” Ken Shamrock (27-13-2) tested positive for steroids following a drug screen administered prior to his February 13th ‘War Gods’ fight with Ross Clifton.

Due to the year-long suspension from professional MMA competition resulting from the positive steroid test, forty-five year-old Ken Shamrock was forced to withdraw from his March 21st scheduled bout with former pro wrestler, Bobby Lashley (1-0). The fight would have been Lashley’s highest profile fight to date and a chance for Shamrock to show critics he still belongs in the cage.

Roy Jones Jr. to promote combination boxing / MMA event in Pensacola, Florida

PRO MMA (http://promma.info) has learned that former pound-for-pound Champion of the World, Roy Jones Jr. plans to promote a combination boxing / MMA event that will air live on pay-per-view on March 21 at the Pensacola Civic Center in Florida.

Never has a combination boxing / MMA card featured such a well known and successful boxer. The 40 year-old Jones will be fighting the relatively unknown Omar Shieka. Jones was last in the ring on November 8, 2008 when he lost a unanimous decision against Joe Calzaghe. Although Jones is getting on up in age, the man has been fighting consistently for 19 straight years.

On the MMA portion of the card, names such as Seth Petruzelli, Bobby Lashley, Roy Nelson, Jeff Monson, and Doug Marshall have been mentioned. It’s not a bad lineup although, Monson’s recent legal issues could potentially keep him from fighting.
