Cohen explained, “Right now, nothing is signed. We are exploring several different dates including that July 11th date. There’s so much that has to go into deciding what date that third event is going to take place on.”

First Affliction, now Mayweather could fight on same night as UFC 100

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned according to a report by ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael, that once retired P4P boxing king Floyd Mayweather Jr. is eyeing a possible return for July 11th on HBO. This is the date that the network has down for their monthly edition of “World Championship Boxing”.

July 11th also happens to be the date set for a blockbuster UFC 100 card, and as earlier reported, may be getting even more competition as Affliction is rumored to be planning a free show on the same night.

Mayweather who has fought five of his last six bouts on HBO PPV is looking at a possible tune-up fight after being out of action since late in December of 2007. This fight would likely be on HBO rather than pay per view, and would lead to a potential super fight with the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton winner later in the year.
