The Bellator Light Heavyweight World Title will be settled on Friday, March 21st from the Kansas Star Arena, live on Spike TV as Attila Vegh will fight “The Hardcore Kid” Emmanuel Newton in a highly anticipated clash at 205 pounds. The night will also feature the start of the Bellator Lightweight Tournament. Liverpool native Terry Etim was originally scheduled to compete in his first Bellator Tournament, but Etim has suffered an ACL injury and tournament alternate Tim Welch will now take his place.
A new bout has been formed for Bellator 97 as lightweight champion Michael Chandler’s (11-0) opponent for Bellator 96, Dave Jansen (19-2), has suffered an ACL injury, which has forced him to withdraw from their scheduled matchup. Chandler will now face David Rickels (14-1) at Bellator 97, which takes place at the Santa Ana Center in Albuquerque, N.M., on July 31.
