Middleweights Uriah Hall and Kelvin Gastelum will square off this evening for the title of “Ultimate Fighter” and a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The two Team Sonnen finalists of The Ultimate Fighter season 17 had impressive showings on the UFC reality show on FX and tonight will get the chance to prove they belong in the big leagues.
It was the overwhelming favorite against the ultimate underdog. Most fans expected Uriah Hall to continue his unstoppable run and earn the title of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but someone forgot to tell that to Gastelum, who derailed the hype train of Uriah Hall with a split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, and 29-28).
With everything on the line for both Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano, including a “TUF” coaching gig and a shot at UFC bantamweight kingpin Ronda Rousey, both fighters left it all in the cage during an exciting bout that brought the crowd to their feet. Zingano turned the tables on the takedowns of Tate in the third stanza, unleashing a furious knee attack before putting Tate away with an elbow to win by TKO at the 2:55 mark.
