Who’s the stud now – a TUF soccer match

We often hear fighters who have been on The Ultimate Fighter talk about how they were perceived and how the editing made them look.

The TUF editors have not gone out of their way to make Frank Mir look good that is for sure.

Case in point was the traditional coaches’ challenge which this season happened to be soccer.

Right away we hear Coach Mir say that he was “set up to fail” being that Soccer is the national sport of Brazil and that is where the opposing coach, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is from.

TUF 8 – Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir – Episode 9 Re-Cap

It’s time for the Light Heavyweights this week with Krzysztof Soszynski facing Kyle Kingsbury.

The real KO action this week is seen before the actual fight in the Ocatagon, and takes place at the TUF house.

Nover’s performance from last week cemented his place as a real threat to walk away as the lightweight Ultimate Fighter this season.

Kryzstof is shown with his thumb being worked on and it looks pretty bad with Sos thinking that it may possibly be fractured.  Mir brings in his guy Don House to evaluate the extent of the injury and to give Sos some pointers on protecting his hand.  House concludes that the injury will be fine for Krzysztof to continue in the competition.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in talks with Sengoku

Despite being suspended by the California State Athletic Commision until July 28 2009, Antonio Silva has plans to fight at World Victory Road’s Sengoku 7 on January 4th.

Tatame reported on the American Top Team member’s intentions. Silva (11-1), through translation, stated “I’m negotiating my way to Japan The Sengoku made me an off to fight on January 4 and we are seeing that.”

Regarding his suspension, the former Elite XC Heavyweight Champion informed MMAWeekly that “I’ve gone to a far extent to prove my innocence, and they don’t listen. It’s the law, or maybe it’s not the law, but it’s very wrong.”

Kim Couture Files Lawsuit Against Affliction’s Todd Beard

Kim Couture has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Affliction owner Todd Beard.

A Las Vegas judge issued a temporary restraining order against Beard or any employee working for Beard, prohibiting any contact with Couture, or even stepping into the MGM Grand Hotel at this weekend’s UFC 91 events.

Kim Couture confirmed the report to MMAWeekly, “Yes, it is true. The reports are accurate, but I’m not able to comment further at this time.”

Sexual harassment possibly behind resignation

15rounds.com’s Michael Swann has reported the reason behind California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer Armando Garcia’s resignation is sexual harrasment.

Garcia’s office has reportedly already been cleared out and he had the option of resigning or be fired.

The sexual harassment claim was filed by office technician Lily Galvez.

Swann also reports on Garica allegedly violating the 1996 Professional Boxing Act, collecting travel claim advances, accepting gifts, and informing outside sanctioning body representatives of fight scores in the middle of the bouts.

Chute Boxe trainer is victim of homicide

It has been reported that Osmar Fernandes Dias, an instructor at the famed Chute Boxe Academy, was shot three times while leaving the academy early Tuesday morning in Curitiba, Brazil.

Dias’ trained some of the best fighters to ever come out of Chute Boxe. The Rua brothers and Wanderlei Silva learned their crafts under the late Dias, as well as Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and Fabricio Werdum.

Xicão Joly who was a close friend to Dias stated, “We’ve heard it was an attempted assault, but right now no one knows the dettails”

Along with leaving a slew of fighters at the academy, Dias was also a family man according to Joly.

Pro MMA Radio interview – Dan Henderson

UFC middleweight and light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson stopped by Pro MMA Radio on Monday night to speak with host, Larry Pepe.

Here are some highlights from their discussion:

Henderson fought a very tough three round decision victory against Rousimar Palhares at UFC 88 in September.

He caught Palhares with some big shots and the guy would just not go away; the toughness of the Brazilian’s chin was a surprise to Henderson.

Henderson was able to clarify, his height is really 5’11” and not 6’1″ which most stats show.

Sadollah off UFC 91; Lambert out of UFC

Amir Sadollah will not be facing Nick Catone this Saturday night at UFC 91.

UFC.com has reported a leg infection will prevent the TUF 7 champion from fighting on one of the year’s biggest cards.

The fight would have been the second pro bout in Sadollah’s young career.

His opponent, Catone, will also be off the card as well. UFC.com reported “After an exhaustive search for a replacement, the middleweight matchup will not be replaced on the card.”
