EliteXC bleeds to death

UFC President, Dana White is a very smart man. He catches a lot of flack for the words he chooses to use sometimes because he drops the F-bomb like names at a hollywood party (hi Mauro). But with Dana at least you never have to wonder where he stands on an issue.. He lays it out there and isn’t worried about being politically correct. Love him or hate him once again he comes away looking like Nostradomus as it appears EliteXC is shutting down operation.

White having been through the ups and downs of the MMA promotion game has stated in the past that EliteXC would not last. He also said that Affliction would not last. EliteXC has hit the dirt and it sure seems Affliction’s MMA promotion doesn’t have much life at this point.

Joe “Diesel” Riggs is at 170 to stay – PRO MMA Exclusive Interview

by: Cory Brady

Joe “Diesel” Riggs has seen his fair share of ups and downs in his mixed martial arts career. At only 26 years old this 170 pound fighter that used to fight around the 280 pound range has been through a lot in a short amount of time to say the least.

Riggs had a chance at championship glory in the UFC, a post-fight hospital room brawl with Nick Diaz and just missed an opportunity to put an early stop to the mma media phenomenon known as Kimbo Slice.

Riggs most recent fight was a controversial second round technical knockout loss to Kazuo Misaki that most feel was stopped prematurely. Looking to turn a page in his mma career and put the loss to Misaki behind him, Riggs will have the opportunity on November 21st in his last fight on his contract with Strikeforce to rebound in impressive fashion when he faces the always dangerous Luke Stewart.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller retires?

Say it isn’t so! One website at least is reporting that wild and crazy guy known throughout the world of MMA as Jason “Mayhem” Miller is retiring.

We have no idea how credible this is but TheGarv.com put it like this:

Jason “Mayhem” Miller has ended his fighting career. Win or lose, Mayhem was always a very exciting fighter and his sense of humor is one of the best in MMA. The guy is hilarious. Confirming his retirement, Miller said: “I made enough money, I don’t need to fight anymore.” The good news is that Miller will still be covering the sport of MMA.

At only 28 years of age, it definitely seems early for Miller to retire and it’s fairly doubtful he made enough money from fighting to retire at this stage of his career.  This announcement certainly comes out of left field and makes little sense.  Knowing the type of mayhem Miller likes to cause, this could very well be a practical joke or at the very least more of a break than a retirement.

Dana White disappointed with Brandon Vera

by: Jack Bratcher
When Brandon Vera entered the UFC he stated that he wanted to first win the Heavyweight Title and then move down in weight and take the Light Heavyweight Title as well, being the only person to hold both belts at the same time. After back to back defeats at heavyweight he moved down to light heavyweight and now it seems even the lighter half of his dream is fading further away. Vera gave up a split decision loss to Keith Jardine Saturday night, October 18, in Birmingham, England.
