Josh Koscheck to take on Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in UFC 106 co-main event

Koscheck's addition to UFC 106 against Anthony Johnson has helped the struggling card.

“UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin 2″ has just gotten a bit more exciting with the addition of Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson as the co-main event. The event was in need of some sort of line up boost after losing the heavyweight championship fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin as the main event.

Koscheck first hinted at the bout on his Twitter account, “I got some big fight news for me. I am fighting nov 21 in Vegas. Co main event!!! Haha it’s on baby!!!!” Then later confirmed the fight was with Johnson with, “bout Agreement for UFC 106 is here…I will sign today and be Fighting Anthony Johnson. :))).”

The fight has still not been officially announced by the UFC.

Anthony Johnson will be making a four week turnaround following his devastating knockout over Yoshiyuki Yoshida last Saturday. This may be somewhat of a time for redemption for Johnson, who failed to make weight at UFC 104, coming in six pounds over the limit. The extra weight cost Johnson 20% of his purse as well as a $60,000 knockout of the night bonus.

Coming off of a first round TKO victory over Frank Trigg, Josh Koscheck was originally slated to fight Mike Pierce at Ultimate Fight Night 20. Johnson will be a true test and a serious threat to Koshcheck with his devastating knockout power and hand-speed.

Both fighters have highlight reel knockout victories over Yoshiyuki Yoshida. A victory in this fight would catapult either Johnson (8-2) or Koscheck (13-4) to the top of the welterweight division, and ultimately a shot at Georges St.Pierre. Don’t blink during this fight folks, it will not go to a decision.
