King Mo takes on MMA legend Don Frye Aug. 28

About a month ago PRO MMA (promma.info) first got word of a potential fight between “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal and MMA legend Don Frye. King Mo confirmed with us yesterday that the bout agreements have been signed and the fight is on.

King Mo (4-0) will face Frye (20-7-1) in the main event of “M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough” on Aug. 28, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

M-1 Global is most known for their partnerships with Affliction Entertainment and the M-1 Challenge team-based MMA tournament series. “M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough” will be the promotion’s first major solo ventuure and is scheduled to air live on HDNet.

Frye, who won three fights in one night at his first pro event at UFC 8 in 1996, is 5-2-1 in his last eight fights. At 43-years-old the veteran has remained active in his fighting career all these years and is still a dangerous opponent for anyone.

King Mo, who is fresh out of rehab from a recent ACL surgery, is 4-0 in his young MMA career which began last September. His most recent fight was a unanimous decision victory over Ryo Kawamura back in March.

The M-1 event, which takes place on Friday at the Convention Center, will be followed by the International Mixed Martial Arts Expo (IMMAE) on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30, at the same location.

Stay tuned to PRO MMA (promma.info) as more fights are announced for this card.
