Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs set for 170 pounds

PRO MMA (promma.info) has confirmed the upcoming rematch between Joe “Diesel” Riggs and Nick Diaz taking place on Aug. 15 in San Jose will be contested at 170 lbs. according to sources close to the fight.

Carson’s Corner host, Bob Carson, first broke the news of the rumored fight last week. PRO MMA (promma.info) then confirmed on July 4 the fight indeed was taking place. However, only today did we learn at what weight class.

Diaz’s last bout was fought at 179 lbs. against Scott Smith, and Riggs last fought at 170 lbs. against Phil Baroni. Both fighters are coming off impressive victories from the June 6 Strikeforce card in St. Louis.

Other bouts confirmed for the Aug. 15 Strikeforce event include Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson, Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum, and Gina Carano vs. Cristiane Santos in the main event.
