Georges St. Pierre knocks out Thiago Alves

Georges St. Pierre must be extremely focused for his upcoming bout against Thiago “Pitbull” Alves at UFC 100 because according to his most recent “tweet,” the champ is dreaming about the no. 1 welterweight contender.

The psychology of dreams is extremely fascinating. Since the beginning of time people have been trying to understand the strange happenings of the dream world. Dr. Melfi tried to help Tony Soprano interpret a dream where a stork flies off with his penis. A friend of mine once told me about a gang of David Letterman midgets chasing him down an alley.

GSP’s recent dream did not have anything to do with storks, penises, or David Letterman, but it is interesting nonetheless. For one thing, GSP does not tweet very often. His past four tweets were Mar. 9, Mar. 23, June 5, and June 25. So for him to even tweet this message is pretty significant.

Here is the exact quote: “i ad a dream avant-hier soir, I was standing over the out cold Alves….”

Now, when put through the trusty Google French-to-English translator it reads: “i ad a dream before yesterday evening, I was standing out over the Alves cold ….”

It is a pretty self explanatory statement although it deserves a couple of comments. The word “ad” is how GSP speaks English but obviously should be “had.” And “cold” most likely does not mean Alves needs a coat.

What it does mean is the UFC Welterweight Champion had a dream yesterday where he was standing over the body of his upcoming opponent at UFC 100, Thiago Alves, who was laying unconscious from a beating he had just taken from Georges St. Pierre.

When it comes to interpreting this dream, the fact that it is actually prophetic, and the fight will end with GSP knocking out Alves is possible, but not probable.  More likely, it is symbolic of GSP’s deep confidence that he is going to defeat Thiago Alves.

One thing is pretty certain; when you are dreaming of your opponent, you are focused on your objective. And if GSP believes he can beat Alves, more than half the battle is already won.
