“XFC 24: Collision Course” takes place this evening at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. In the main event Scott “Hotsauce” Holtzman faces John Mahlow for the XFC lightweight title. Mahlow was the XFC’s very first 155 pound champion several years ago and hopes to reclaim his former glory this evening, but standing in his way is Knoxville, Tennessee’s Holtzman who remains undefeated in his pro MMA career and is 4-0 in the XFC cage.

It was announced by Florida-based MMA promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships on Friday they had stripped their lightweight champion Nick Newell (9-0) of his title for refusing to fight Scott Holtzman (4-0) in the XFC 24 main event on June 14, a fight the organization had been promoting and selling tickets to for some time.

The main event of XFC 24 was set to pit fast rising lightweight Scott Holtzman (4-0) against the champion Nick Newell (9-0). Newell made his way through the ranks after the XFC signed him following their open fighter tryouts. Holtzman won his way into the promotion as an amateur and has since finished three of his four opponents to capture the number one contender spot for Newell’s belt. We learned today that Newell has refused to sign a contract to fight Holtzman.

Luis “Sapo” Santos (54-9-1) has quite the resume going into his XFC 23 “Louisville Slugfest” match up with Shamar Bailey. Santos has recorded 54 wins in his mixed martial arts career that dates back to 2000. He brings that experience into a fight with a solid wrestler and UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator veteran in Shamar Bailey(15-8-0).
