Matt Lindland forced out of KSW 15 due to hand injury

Matt “The Law” Lindland’s return to the cage will have to wait just a little longer. The 2000 Olympic silver-medalist has suffered a hand injury that has forced him from his KSW 15 bout with Mamed Khalidov on March 19.

Sengoku 11 fight spotlight: Jorge Santiago vs. Mamed Khalidov

The past couple of weeks have been relatively slow with MMA action; but that was just so you could catch your breath for what is about to take place over the next couple of months. In about three weeks Sengoku 11 takes place at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. The event will air live here in the U.S. on HDNet.

There are a number of great fights on the card including Dave “Pee Wee” Herman vs. “Big” Jim York, Hatsu Hioki vs. Michihiro Omigawa, and more. However, the fight we are focusing on in this spotlight is the middleweight match-up between Jorge Santiago (21-7, #6 MW) vs. Mamed Khalidov (19-3-1).

Jorge Santiago is a top ten ranked middleweight and a veteran of such promotions as the UFC, Bodog, King of the Cage, Strikeforce, and Sengoku. Having won eight of his fights by (T)KO and 12 by submission, he is very  well-rounded.

International MMA Spotlight – The Fights: Mamed Khalidov vs. Dave Dalgliesh at KSW 8


As part of PROMMA.INFO’s International MMA Spotlight series, for the next couple of weeks we will be presenting fights from Poland’s premiere mixed martial arts organization Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW).

On Nov. 10, 2007, Mamed Khalidov took on Dave Dalgliesh at “KSW 8 – Konfrontacja.” At this point, Dalgliesh had a record of 24-16-2 and Khalidov was 14-2-1. Dalgliesh had been fighting professionally since 2000, and was the much more experienced veteran coming into the fight, not to mention a dangerous striker.

International MMA spotlight: Poland’s KSW promotion

We are PROMMA.INFO – Google’s number one source for professional mixed martial arts information. In staying true to our moniker and mission, from time-to-time we will be spotlighting various MMA organizations, fighters, and gyms from around the world.

In this segment we will take a look at Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW). In English, the name means “Martial Arts Confrontation.” Founded in 2004, KSW is Poland’s premiere MMA organization, and all but one of their events have been held in Warsaw. The majority of KSW evenst air live on various television networks throughout Europe.

The promotion is probably most known for its four and eight-man tournaments which take place over the course of one night. Notable names that have fought for KSW that many American fight fans will recognize include Jason Guida, Antonio Mendes, Jordan Radev, Peter Sobota, and Mamed Khalidov, to name a few.
